Once you purchase mac it will come with 10.8.2 Thanks. This is more simple than you think it is. ![]() Some clear guidance would be appreciated. I've been using Macs since 1996 and I've even upgraded and installed processors, HDs, RAM, OSs on my previous Macs. I'm used to having a good old fashioned optical disc, and all this is kind of a pain in the ass. I'm kind of confused about the definition of a "Recovery Drive". Or would the easiest thing just be to install the new SSDs, buy Mountain Lion from the App Store, and create a USB boot drive? Or do I have to purchase cloning software, remove the stock HD, clone it to the new SSD? So let me get this straight.īefore even turning on the new Mini I can take out the stock HD, put it inside a USB enclosure, install the new SSDs, turn on the Mini while holding down the option key and boot up so I can use Disk Utility to format and install 10.8? I just ordered a new MacMini and two SSD drives for it.
